Maroon Bells

I had anticipated the opportunity for a fall shot of Maroon Bells for some time. The weather was less than ideal when I arrived - so I left disappointed and hiked around looking for other shots in the area. Then things seemed to be changing as the sun moved west and I decided to head back for a last look around sunset. I gathered my gear and headed up the trail to the lake. Still unconvinced but hopeful, I set the camera and tripod up long before conditions looked promising. Things don't always just automatically drop into place on the first try. Graciously, the elements aligned with a tremendous display of fleeting sunset colors to compliment the yellow aspens and doubled in an excellent reflection of an iconic Colorado mountain lake. Sometimes, just a little patience can make all the difference.
