Picketpost Glory

I've been drawn to the unique lines of Picketpost Mountain at Superior, AZ for as long as I can remember. Generally, the best sunset shots only happen after good planning and anticipation. But this shot was one of those rare exception to the rule. I was flying a Cessna near Picketpost late one afternoon when this crazy sunset turned up as the sun dropped below the horizon. One of the nice things about shooting from a moving aircraft is you can reposition really fast - just can't use a tripod. I circled east of the mountain as long as the show lasted shooting out the open left side window as the sky transitioned through an amazing spectrum of vibrant colors.
